Organizing my vanity

I got a few organizational boxes from the store and I finally organized all my makeup in the new vanity. I am so happy that all my daily essential are now in place. My closet is ready and so is my makeup table, so getting ready in the morning will now be so much easier!

Bedroom blue

With the holidays quickly approaching, we've decided to pause our renovation plans and enjoy the holiday season. All we wanted to finish was the master bedroom. And so alex and I worked really hard to paint the bedroom. Here are some photos of the process.

What's coming in 2013

Well, with the holidays and first snow it really feels very festive, so Alex and I are taking a small break and enjoying our holidays. We finished painting the bedroom and the office and are ready to start working on the master bathroom and second bathroom on the second floor, but before we proceed, we need a short break.

Once the holidays are over, we will be working on the bathrooms. Keep tuned in for more posts.

What's next?

It feels good to know that at least one room is ready. We just finished painting the office, the paint is dry and it's time to start decorating the room. Once we are done with the office, the next step would be to tackle the bedroom!

We've already picked our bedroom colour. It's a calm blue/grey colour that is both soothing and relaxing - perfect for the bedroom.

Painting the Office!

Now that we finished a few closets and sorted some of our stuff, it's time to start paining the office. We want to finish the office first because our large wall unit will be in this room. And most of the stuff that's currently in boxes all over the house will eventually be in that unit. So the goal is to paint the office, assemble the wall unit, and sort out stuff. This will free up quite a bit of space in the house and will allow us to concentrate on other areas of the house.

We've decided not to bother with the ceiling and concentrate on the walls and window trim, doors and baseboards. We chose green for the office because we want this space to be bright and vibrant because both Alex and I will be using this room quite often.  I can't wait to decorate this room!

Here are some Before, After and During photos.

First week progress

It's been a week and a bit since we moved into our new home and we're slowly unpacking. Here is what we've done so far during our first week.
+ We set up all closets, which includes a fresh coat of paint and rearranged shelves. We also started placing and organizing our belonging in these closets.
+ We finally put together our bed and side tables, so the bedroom looks like a bedroom now
+ Started working on the office, we already painted the door and window trim.
+ Received new fridge! (it took three strong men to carry our old fridge out and bring the new one in, but it was all worth it. Our new fridge is awesome!)

The fridge is here!

As part of our long list of things to do, we want to update our kitchen appliances. And the first new appliance is the fridge. We bought it before we even moved in and now it's finally here! No more of that old dingy white fridge... Now the only a few things that we need are the stove, dishwasher and a microwave.

Closeted Project

A quick update to the closets will make getting ready in the morning a breeze. In addition to that, most of our precious belongings will be finally put in their place - inside the closets, thus freeing up our living space. And that means that we can start sorting out some of our stuff and get rid of all the boxes. That's our first official project. We are going to adjust shelves and add a fresh coat of paint to all 5 built in closets.

First on our list "his and hers" sets of closets in the master bedroom. Next step closet on the first floor. and last but not least 2 closets in the office. Here are some before and after (including the in progress) photos!

Leveling Shelves

This is not a proper way to store shoes!

First floor closet - we hope to use it for outside winter wear and guest jackets.

Work in progress

We used white paint in all closets

This is not how you store your clothes!

Removing old shelves

How many screws and nails does it take to hold up a hanging rod?

Ahhh... all done!!!
