Current State of Affairs

This past weekend Alex and I had a housewarming party. We were really pleased to know that we can finally host a party for a large group of friends and not worry about space. Our new home is significantly bigger than the condo and that became more evident with this party.
We've decided to host a housewarming party despite the fact that the house isn't quite ready. We arrived to this decision after we realized that it might take us a really long time to finish everything. However, we've done quite a bit around the house, and we're pretty much settled in at this point and its a lot easier to think of this big house as our home.
Here is what we finished in the house in the last 3 months:

· Everything is unpacked and in its right place. No more unopened boxes!
· All closets are properly set up and used accordingly.
· All furniture is assembled and positioned in place.
· Bedroom is painted and is fully functional.
· Office is painted, updated with new hardware and large wall unit is set up and being used.
· 1st floor bathroom is freshly painted and fully functional.
· All doors in the house are painted and have new door handles.

Basically we are totally settled in and are able to enjoy our house. However, there are still a few things that we want to accomplish in the near future:

· Update Master bathroom (new faucets, counter, sink, tub and tiles).
· Upgrade 2nd floor bathroom (new faucets, shower door, counter and sink).
· Remodel the kitchen (new stainless steel appliances, new countertops and cabinetry).
· Paint living/dining room and large staircase.

We hope to have these things complete before my birthday in July.

Here are some photos of what the house looks like right now. Enjoy!

New shoe rack and closet makeover

I got a new shoe rack and now our first floor closet will be upgraded and fitted with super awesome shelves!

Bathroom Update

I've decided to tackle a small project this week - first floor bathroom. It's a small room that only needs a fresh coat of paint and new towel rack. I'm already half way there. I painted the door and the ceiling white. Now I just have to remove old towel bar and toilet paper holder and paint the walls. I've asked Alex to fix the light, so hopefully we will be done soon. Just have to decide on the colour! I'm thinking dark grey.

Quick update

Just a quick update on the status of our house. We've unpacked our giant wall unit and have separated It in two sections. We now have a small (mini) section on the first floor and a larger section on the second floor. Here are some pics:

Opening boxes. Feels like Christmas morning all over again!

Now that we holiday season is in the past and we are back to work and real life. It's time to really get back into it!

We've decided to hold off our kitchen remodelling until later and concentrate on the second floor. We are almost done there, we just want to upgrade our bathrooms. So we will work on them first and after they are done we'll move our attention to the first floor (kitchen, living, dining rooms).

While we are planning on what to do in our bathrooms we've decided to assemble our super large wall unit and unpack some of the boxes that currently occupy most of the living room.

Alex already assembled a part of the wall unit and now it's time to unpack some boxes. Here is our living room mini storage. And the mess left behind while I was looking for things to put in there. ;)

I'm not sure how two people were able to accumulate that much stuff in only a few years!

Back to work!!!

Happy new year everyone!

After a few relaxing days at the cottage and away from house and house Reno, we are back to real life. And so the work begins.

I've already started painting last two doors on the second floor. Bathroom door and laundry room door. It's a simple task and I figured it would be a great way to kick off new year Reno plans!
